Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

I was so excited last night to see the midnight showing of Harry Potter. At the Rave they opened all 16 screens for Harry Potter, you got to pick in whatever theater you wanted. Somehow I got stuck in the theater that was playing charades. It was a little sad, a little pathetic and a little annoying but a lot humorous. Then we got to watch a good five or ten minutes of ads before the previews started.

Then all of a sudden one of the most beautiful things came on the screen-gray clouds and lightening, marking the beginning of the movie. The girl that hits on Harry was gorgeous but way too tall for him. Dumbledore's hand was grotesque. Then the most beautiful sight ever beheld came on the screen-yes, you guessed it-RON WEASLEY!!! "I think I would know if my best friend were here." Great line, great, great line. As for the rest of the film, they added (per usual) and took away (also usual) some which was good, some which was bad. It was after all a Warner Brothers version of the books. I wasn't disappointed and I am most certainly ready for the seventh films. That is still to weird to me that there will be a Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II. Anyway, I digress.

My favorite moments of the night were mostly Brandi's reactions to the movie. "Dumbledore ships H/HR." "Tom Felton is EPIC." Random fangirl squees coming from the seat next to me EVERY time Draco came on the screen even if it was merely a brief profile on the stairs. "Hermione just killed those birds." Just to name a few.

I also was incredibly joyous over Ron's stupor due to love laced chocolates and Harry's levity with Professor Slughorn when drugged with Liquid Luck. R/HR tension and attraction was great! Ginny and Harry were slightly awkward and weird but still sweet, I guess. I mean really did she have to bend down to tie is shoe lace? That seems a little submissive to me. Although, it did allow Brandi to imagine that she would disrobe in front of him which was rather funny. Lavender Brown was very good at being ridiculous. I mean I love me some Ron but COME ON GIRL! Oh, how funny in the infirmary with her "Won Won" and "see he senses my presence." Did anyone else notice how nice Rupert's physique is looking. I mean strong back and as Brandi put it, "look at those guns, did you see those guns?" Oh, I saw them and I adored them.

Well, I could go on and on about this movie but I won't. Feel free to comment with priceless moments you enjoyed from the movie. I would love to hear about it from a perspective that isn't mine. Also, I have a question that I feel Brandi put it best when she said "didn't you think the Inferi looked like little Gollum?"

Edit:
I forgot to mention a few things. Shocking, I know. Why were Neville and Luna not in the movie more? Where were the big battles and the Order of the Phoenix? Did anyone else really love Jim Broadbent as Slughorn? When Rupert hugged him I nearly died and then did die when he fell of the back of the couch. I want to be crazy like Bellatrix if I ever lose my mind. McGonagall was hysterical with her "Potter, take Weasley with you, he looks too happy standing there." I totally felt for Hermione when her hair got all frizzed out due to the potion making. Her's still looked a little made up but I will forgive it because the effort was made. When Draco made comments along the lines of "what's so great about Hogwarts" I expected him to say, "I'm transferring to Pigfarts next year." There is probably more but I need to stop and feed the dogs.

"Goin' Back" (or not)

I can never go back to a time when I didn't have A Very Potter Musical in my life. I was so unaware of the sheer genius I was missing until Fosco placed that link on her blog. I can never repay her for what she has given to me.

In other news, yours truly has been searching and applying for a job since May and have had no luck. Am rather antsy. Suggestions are welcome. However, selling my body on the street corners at night is not very constructive input. Think carefully before writing a response.

News alert: For the first time in the history of my 21 years on this planet I have actually finished a journal. It took a mere six years to complete it. I have now started a new journal and am liking this one immensely. I have taken to placing mementos on the pages of my entries as to have a physical reminder of said occurrences. I am enjoying the aesthetic this decision has created and shall continue the experiment.

As for how I have been living these weeks since I have been away from xanga, I can tell you that I am glad to be finally settled. Once I left the dorms, I was shipped off to California to suffer through family fun, sunshine, cooler weather and pampering. How awful, I know. Then back to Houston for painful laughs with the family, babysitting the niece and living without spending a dime. Truly terrifying. Finally, having stopped living the life of a gypsy, I have settled in a house on Bolivar in quaint Denton town. With great gratitude, to a certain maternal figure of mine, I have now a bed, a desk, a bookshelf and a bedside table. Today I even decorated some of the walls. It is beginning to look as if someone may live here. Shocking! Speaking of said bed, I am going to go lavish in it's comfort and drift to sleep. Good night friends and associates, till next time.

A few more days...Final countdown?!

So, we lost the one house but signed the lease for a better house. We have a fourth roommate, Lauren Johnson, so this should be fun. Of course with any roommate situation there will be rough patches but I think for the most part it will be great. The only part I am reconsidering is the room I chose. I really like the middle bedroom at the front of the house with all the windows. Oh well. We'll see what it looks like again with nothing in the small room I am suppose to take.

Also, this is finals week and I don't have a final today because I went to 13 out of 14 classes and that means he drops the lowest test grade and all our exams (including the final) are weighted the same. WOOHOO! Still made an A. Then I have one tomorrow night, two on Wednesday and one on Thursday night. I check out of the dorms for the last time at 10:30 on Friday. To be honest, I am more worried about getting all my belongings out of the dorm, by myself, and cleaning it well enough to be on the road at 11 than I am about my finals.

After finals are over and I am out of dorm life FOR GOOD, I drive home celebrating in my car and then fly away to California on the next day. California will be fun but it won't be as fun as it would have been if my brother had been able to make it. STUPID WORK!

Now all I ask for, is that my voice finds its way home before California.

Home Sweet Home

I just got a call saying I have a place to live this summer and next year. How awesome is that?!

There is no dishwasher but I have a home.

More than that, it is a house in a cool part of Denton. I'm excited!

Time to be an adult. Oh man, I need a better paying job.
